Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band - Safe as Milk

A bit more approachable than their 1969 avant-garde adventures on Trout Mask Replica, Safe as Milk is always worth a listen. The debut album from Captain Beefheart (and his Magic Band) came out in a wild time where a lot of interesting things were happening in rock music, and this is definitely one of them. It even has a young Ry Cooder on guitar.
